🕊️ Restored Authority: Who You Are in Christ
Last week, we talked about returning to God.
Maybe you repented.
Maybe you rededicated your life.
Maybe you finally said, “Lord, I’m done doing this my way.”
And I want you to understand something clearly.
When you return to Him, you are not just forgiven.
You are restored.
Not partially.
Not cautiously.
You are fully restored — not tolerated, not managed - but embraced.
That is covenant reality.
And let me say this plainly so there is no confusion.
A covenant is a binding promise initiated by God — not based on your performance, not dependent on your perfection — but sealed by His faithfulness.
When God makes covenant, He keeps it.
You are not on probation with Him.
You are fully restored — not tolerated, not managed, but embraced.
🌿 In the Beginning, God Spoke
Genesis tells us:
“And God said…”
And when God spoke, creation responded.
Light came.
Darkness separated.
Life formed.
Order was established.
God created through His Word.
Then He said:
“Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26)
You were created in the image and likeness of the true and living God.
Genesis 2:7 says He breathed into Adam the breath of life.
But something powerful is often overlooked.
Scripture never records God teaching Adam how to speak.
Adam was created fully formed — able to respond to God, able to name creation, able to communicate.
Eve was formed and immediately spoke.
Speech was not learned.
It was embedded.
Because image-bearers of a speaking God ➡️ SPEAK.
You were designed with a voice on purpose.
🔥 Your Words Matter
Proverbs 18:21 says:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…”
James 3 teaches that the tongue steers the whole body.
Jesus said in Matthew 12:34:
“Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
Scripture does not treat words lightly.
Proverbs 21:23 (ESV):
“Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.”
Your words matter because life and death are in the power of your tongue; you were created in the image and likeness of God Almighty — and image-bearers speak accordingly.
🌳 What Changed in the Garden
When sin entered, something shifted immediately.
Adam said:
“The woman You gave me…”
Eve said:
“The serpent deceived me…”
But look at what Adam also said:
“I was afraid… and I hid myself.” (Genesis 3:10)
There is no mention of fear before the fall.
Before sin, there was relationship and communion.
After sin, there was fear.
Fear changed the way they spoke.
Fear produces defensive language.
Fear produces blame.
Fear produces hiding.
Isaiah 59:2 tells us that sin separates.
And separation distorts authority.
When authority is distorted, speech follows.
🕊️ What Repentance Restores
If you have repented and returned to God, hear this carefully.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says:
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…”
Romans 8:1 says there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
The Holy Spirit convicts to draw you close — not to push you away.
2 Peter 3:9 (AMP) says:
“The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”
He draws you because He loves you.
You are not barely saved.
You are not conditionally accepted.
You are fully restored — not tolerated, not managed, but embraced.
đź‘‘ Who You Are Now
2 Timothy 1:7 says:
“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.”
Fear is no longer your ruler!
And 1 John 3:1–2 says:
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are… Beloved, we are God’s children now.”
This is not opinion.
This is fact.
You were created in His image and restored in His Son — that is your identity.
You belong to the Most High God!
Let that settle in your heart.
You belong to Him.
🔥 So What Does This Mean for You?
It means your language begins to change.
Not because you pretend everything is perfect.
But because you align your words with the Word of God.
As you study to show yourself approved (2 Timothy 2:15), His truth fills your heart.
And what fills your heart flows from your mouth.
You stop agreeing with fear.
You stop rehearsing defeat.
You stop magnifying what contradicts God’s promises.
There is nothing impossible for God (Luke 1:37).
So do not box Him in with careless speech.
You bear the image of the true and living God.
Speak accordingly.
The same God who spoke light into darkness formed you with a voice — do not use it carelessly.
🕊️ A Prayer to Be Spoken: Guard and Sanctify My Mouth
Father God,
You created me in Your image and likeness. You are the true and living God who created all things with Your Word, who formed me with the ability to speak.
Forgive me for the words I have spoken that did not align with Your truth. Forgive me for careless speech, fearful speech, and language that reflected doubt instead of faith, in Jesus’ name.
Your Word says that death and life are in the power of the tongue and I choose life, in Jesus’ name.
Please set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips, according to Psalm 141:3.
Sanctify my speech and create a clean heart within me, so that what flows from my mouth reflects Your Word.
Teach me to abide in You. Let Your Word abide in me, hidden in my heart, so that my language aligns with my restored identity.
I submit all that I am to you, and recognize that I am no longer my own, I was bought at a price, in Jesus Name.
Let my words honor You and reflect who I am in Christ.
I believe that You hear me and answer my prayers.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen. 🕊️
If you prayed this in faith, we would be honored to stand with you.
