🔥 Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable: Stand Flat-Footed
I have to tell you something that you may not want to hear..
When you accepted Jesus Christ as Lord
When you surrendered
When you believed the promises
Life will still get hard, at times.
And for some reason, we act surprised like suffering wasn’t part of the call.
But Jesus never promised comfort.
He said deny yourself.
He said carry your cross.
He said trouble would come. (John 16:33)
So the issue isn’t, “How do I survive hard things?”
The real issue is this:
How will I stay anchored in Jesus Christ when life gets uncomfortable?
Will I stand on what God said, even when pressure hits?
Built for the Storm (Matthew 7:24–25) 🏠🌧️
Jesus said the wise person hears His words and does them. That person is like someone who built their house on the rock.
Then He tells us what’s coming:
The rain came.
The floods came.
The winds blew and beat on that house.
Not if.
When.
And the house did not fall because it was founded on the rock. (Matthew 7:24–25)
So hear me:
The storm is not the sign.
The foundation is.
Hard times don’t mean you missed God.
Hard times reveal what you built on.
And if your life is built on Jesus Christ, you may feel the wind… but you won’t collapse.
Let’s Correct a Common Myth
I’ve heard people say, “God won’t give you more than you can bear.”
I understand why people say it. It’s meant to comfort.
But that’s not what Scripture says.
1 Corinthians 10:13 is about temptation, not trials. God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, and He will always provide a way of escape so you can endure it.
But hardship? Calling? Suffering? Obedience?
God has absolutely allowed His people to face what they could not handle in their own strength.
Paul said it plainly:
“We were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself… But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.” (2 Corinthians 1:8–9)
So no—God isn’t promising a life you think can handle.
God may allow more than you can bear alone… so you will learn to bear it with Him.
Cast Your Cares (All of Them) 🤲🏾
When life feels heavy, God doesn’t tell us to pretend.
He tells us what to do:
“Cast all your cares upon Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
He didn’t say bring Him only the biggest crisis.
He didn’t say bring Him only what you can’t figure out.
He said cast your cares.
That means anything that concerns you. Any and all of it.
If it concerns you, God is concerned.
And I honestly believe that’s one reason God the Father sent His only begotten Son—because it’s easier for us, as humans, to relate to someone who has walked in real human flesh.
And let me be clear and reverent:
You’re bringing them to Jesus Christ, the lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world, who walked in real human flesh without ever losing righteousness, and who carried pressure, grief, and suffering without being overcome.
So don’t just “push through.”
Don’t just “figure it out.”
Cast your cares.
And let the Lord carry what you were never meant to hold alone.
You Were Built for This đź‘‘
Let’s talk about what God has said about you.
Because when pressure hits, you need truth—not feelings.
You are made in the image and likeness of God Almighty. (Genesis 1:26–27)
That means you were created for dominion, not defeat.
You are not an accident.
You are not a mistake.
You are not forgotten.
Scripture says you are God’s workmanship—His masterpiece—created in Christ Jesus for good works. (Ephesians 2:10)
And in Christ, you are not barely making it.
You are more than a conqueror through Him who loves you. (Romans 8:37)
Not a survivor.
Not barely holding on.
More than a conqueror.
Jesus already paid the ultimate price.
So in Christ, the victory is not something you’re waiting on.
The victory has already been purchased.
You Have What You Need ⚔️
You are not empty nor powerless. You have the King of kings and Lord of lords on your side.
Scripture says:
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.” (2 Peter 1:3)
That means what you need to obey God is not missing.
What you need to endure is not absent.
What you need to stand is not delayed.
And Jesus Christ said:
“I have given you authority… to tread on serpents and scorpions… and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)
That is not a cute verse.
That is authority.
So don’t act powerless in a storm.
You have a Father.
You have a Savior.
You have the Holy Spirit.
And you have authority.
Joint-Heirs, Not Orphans 🤍
You are not fighting alone.
You are not abandoned.
Scripture says we are joint-heirs with Christ. (Romans 8:17)
So yes, obedience may make you uncomfortable.
It may shift relationships.
It may change environments.
It may isolate you for a season.
But uncomfortable does not mean misaligned.
Sometimes it means you’re finally walking in step.
Coaching Directive + War Stance 🔥
Here’s the coaching directive:
Stop interpreting discomfort as danger.
Sometimes discomfort is God training you to stop leaning on your own understanding and stand on His Word.
And here’s the war stance:
Stop believing the enemy’s lies.
If the enemy can convince you that you’re alone, you’ll shrink.
But God said He will never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5)
Forsake means abandon, desert, withdraw support, leave helpless.
God does none of that.
So stand flat-footed.
Not in arrogance.
Not in denial.
But in faith.
🔥 Declarative Prayer (Say This Aloud)
Father God,
In the Mighty and Holy name of Jesus Christ, I thank You that I am not my own. I belong to You.
I will not interpret hardship as abandonment.
I will not mistake discomfort for disobedience.
I will not let the storm convince me that my foundation is weak.
Jesus Christ said the rain would come, the floods would rise, and the winds would blow.
So I will not panic in pressure, in Jesus Name.
My faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, so please help me to hear the words of Jesus Christ, and by Your grace, help me to do them, in Jesus Name.
I am building my life on the Rock.
I cast all my cares on You, because You care for me.
Not some but ALL, in Jesus Name.
I declare that I am made in Your image and likeness.
I declare that I am Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.
I declare that I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ.
I declare that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I declare that I am a joint-heir with Christ.
I declare that Your divine power has already given me everything I need for life and godliness.
I declare that Jesus Christ has given me authority over the power of the enemy, in Jesus Name!
So I will stand flat-footed.
I will worship in the wind.
I will praise in the storm.
I will keep my eyes lifted to the hills where my help comes from.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
