✨ God With Us: The Real Reason We Celebrate
Last week, we were reminded that God does not strengthen us from a distance —
Strength Himself steps in.
That truth reaches its fullness in the birth of Jesus Christ.
Because the nearness of God is not an idea, a season, or a tradition —
it is a Person.
This is the real reason we celebrate.
🌟 God Entered What He Created
Scripture tells us plainly who Jesus is:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” — John 1:1
Jesus did not begin at His birth.
He is eternal. Uncreated. Fully God.
And yet,
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” — John 1:14
The miracle was not simply that a child was born.
The miracle was that God entered His own creation.
He did not send help.
He became our Help.
He did not speak strength from afar.
He became our Strength.
🌿 How Strength Came Into the World
God chose to enter the world through human frailty.
Strength Himself stepped into creation — not through power or prestige,
but through surrender and obedience.
He came through the womb of a young virgin woman,
overshadowed by the Holy Spirit.
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you…” — Luke 1:35
Mary was young.
She was vulnerable.
And yet Strength Himself entered the world through her yes.
This is the pattern of God.
He does not wait for human strength —
He supplies divine power.
🌿 God With Us: Returning to Original Design
God With Us is not simply comfort in weakness.
It is restoration to how we were always meant to live.
Scripture tells us:
“For in Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible… all things were created through Him and for Him.” — Colossians 1:16
We were never created to live outside of Christ.
We were never designed to function independently from Him.
Our lives were created in Him,
sustained by Him,
and fulfilled for Him.
Much of our exhaustion comes from trying to live outside of where we were created to remain.
That is why Jesus says:
“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest… for My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” — Matthew 11:28–30
And why Scripture instructs us:
“Cast all your cares on Him, because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
Life becomes heavy when we try to carry what was never meant to be carried alone.
🌿 What We Celebrate — and Why
The day we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ is not where the power lies.
Scripture does not give us a date.
What matters is this:
Jesus Christ was born.
He entered the world in the flesh.
And He was fathered by the Holy Spirit — not by Joseph.
“Before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 1:18
“That which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 1:20
The power is not in a calendar.
The power is in the Incarnation.
Just as with Communion — it is not when we partake,
but that we do, in obedience and remembrance.
“Do this in remembrance of Me.” — Luke 22:19
“For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.” — 1 Corinthians 11:26
We do not celebrate a date.
We celebrate a Person.
We honor Christ —
born of the Spirit,
given for the world,
crucified, resurrected, exalted,
and coming again for His bride, the Church, without spot or wrinkle
(cf. Ephesians 5:27).
This is the real reason we celebrate.
🙏 Closing Prayer
Father God,
I come before You acknowledging that You are Emmanuel — God With Us.
Forgive me for the times I have tried to carry life in my own strength,
forgive me for striving where You have invited dependence, and
forgive me for holding burdens You never asked me to bear, in Jesus’ Name.
Jesus, I receive Your invitation to come to You.
I bring You every care, every weight, and every unanswered question, and
I take Your yoke upon me and choose to learn from You, in Jesus’ Name.
I decree and declare that Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light, that You alone carry what I cannot, in Jesus Name.
Holy Spirit, come and overshadow every place of weakness and weariness in my life, in Jesus’ Name.
Make the presence of God tangible in my thoughts, my decisions, and my daily walk, in Jesus’ Name.
Transform me from the inside out by Your power, from glory to glory, in Jesus’ Name.
Restore me to the design of dependence, in Jesus’ Name.
I decree and declare that my life is sustained by the power of God at work within me, in Jesus’ Name.
I decree and declare that I receive rest, peace, and life through union with Christ, in Jesus’ Name.
Amen, Amen, and Amen.
