Wonderful are Your works

There is nothing about us that God does not already know. He knew us even before we were born. In Psalm 139:13-16, David says, “For You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in Your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when yet there was none of them” (ESV).

It is imperative that we understand that God already knew that none of us would be perfect when He created us, and yet, He still decided that the world needed “us.” It is important that we stop making a relationship with God so complicated and difficult.

As humans, we long to know why’s, how’s, and when’s about all. Here’s the thing; some things are simply unknowable, and we must get to a point where we not only accept that, but trust God with the unknowable things.

Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” The Hebrew definition is to stop striving, to let go, surrender. We can take comfort in letting go and resting in God to provide help, strength, and safety. Isn’t it awesome, that we don’t have to have all the answers, we don’t have to even know what to do next, and yet God is already aware of what we are going through and is on the job?! Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” (NIV). The Scripture says, “all things". That includes the good, the bad, the things that we know about, and the things that we aren’t even aware of.

Please pray with me:

Father, sometimes I can’t understand how You can bring beauty from ashes of my life. I struggle to trust You with the broken pieces. You say in Your Word that without faith it is impossible to please You, and I want to please You. I want to trust You. I want You to make me more like Jesus and use my trials for my good and Your glory. Help me believe the promise of Romans 8:28. In Jesus Name, I ask, Amen.
